Robber fly
The Asilidae - robber flies - have stout, spiny legs and three simple eyes (ocelli) between their two large compound eyes. They possess a "moustache" of stiff bristles on the face called the mystax, which has been suggested to protect the head and face when the fly is dealing with struggling prey.
